Report Fraud

How to report suspicious or unauthorized payment activity.

When to Report

You should report fraud if you believe:

  • A payment was made from your wallet without your authorization.
  • A merchant charged you a different amount than what was agreed upon.
  • A payment page or link looks suspicious or does not match the merchant you are dealing with.
  • You received a recurring charge that you did not authorize or that should have been cancelled.
  • Someone is impersonating a merchant or JoPay to request payments.

How to Report

Open the payment page

Navigate to the payment page where the suspicious activity occurred. You can use the payment link or find it in your browser history.

Click the Report button

On the payment page, look for the Report link or button. This is available on every payment page, including expired and finalized payments.

Describe the issue

Enter a description of what happened. Include relevant details such as:

  • What you expected vs. what happened.
  • The approximate date and time of the incident.
  • Whether you authorized the payment or not.
  • Any communication you had with the merchant.

Submit the report

Click Submit. JoPay records your report along with the partner ID, request ID (if applicable), your IP hash, and a timestamp. This information is reviewed by the JoPay team.

Fraud reports are stored in JoPay's database and are visible to administrators. They are associated with the partner and payment request so the team can investigate the specific transaction.

What Happens Next

After you submit a report:

  1. The JoPay admin team reviews the report and the associated payment records.
  2. If necessary, the admin can disable the merchant to prevent further activity.
  3. For on-chain transactions, the transaction hash provides an immutable record of the transfer that can be independently verified.

Staying Safe

  • JoPay will never ask for your private keys or seed phrase. Anyone requesting this information is attempting a scam.
  • Always verify the payment page URL. Legitimate JoPay payment pages are hosted on known domains configured by your partner.
  • Check that the merchant name and amount match what you expect before connecting your wallet.
  • Do not send USDC to addresses shared via email or messaging unless you have verified them through a JoPay payment page.

Additional Help

If you cannot access the payment page to file a report, or if you need immediate assistance, contact the merchant's partner support channel. Partner contact information is typically shown on the payment page header or footer.
