Invites
Invite new merchants to join JoPay through your partner.
Overview
The invite system lets existing merchants invite new merchants to join JoPay under the same partner. This is useful for referrals, onboarding colleagues, or expanding a merchant network.
Not all merchants can create invites. The ability to invite is controlled by your partner's configuration.
When you can invite
You can create invites only if your partner has enabled merchant-to-merchant invitations. If the invite option is not visible in your dashboard, it means your partner has not enabled this feature for your account.
Creating an invite
Open the invite form
From the dashboard or navigation menu, tap Invite. The invite creation form opens.
Choose an expiry window
Select how long the invite link should remain valid:
- 15 minutes — For immediate use when the new merchant is present.
- 1 hour — For same-day onboarding.
- 24 hours — For sending via email or message when timing is flexible.
Generate the invite link
Tap Create Invite. JoPay generates a unique, single-use invite link with a countdown showing when it expires.
Share the link
Copy the invite link and share it with the new merchant. They open the link in a browser to begin onboarding.
Invite behavior
- Single-use — Each invite link can only be used once. After the new merchant completes onboarding, the link is consumed.
- Time-limited — The invite expires after the selected window (15 min, 1 hr, or 24 hrs). Expired invites cannot be used.
- Partner-scoped — The new merchant is automatically associated with your partner. They inherit the partner's configuration (supported currencies, minimum amounts, feature flags).
Rate limits
To prevent abuse, invite creation is rate-limited:
- 5 invites per hour per merchant. You can create up to 5 invites in any rolling 60-minute window.
If you reach the rate limit, wait for the window to reset before creating more invites. Partners are not subject to the same merchant-level rate limit.
Expired invites
If an invite expires before the new merchant uses it, simply create a new one. Expired invites do not count against future invite creation (only the rate limit window matters).
